Try the Clarion for free...
The Clarion is a fun, highly intuitive instrument to play. If you’d like to try it, simply download the Clarion app on your iPads (from the App Store) or Windows PC devices (from the Microsoft Store) to access a free trial version.
Everyone can have a go at playing First Steps, Happy Birthday, Amazing Grace and Blow the Wind Southerly with 4 instrument sounds.
To unlock all 13 sounds, more content and Clarion features like editing or creating patterns – in other words, designing your own layout of note shapes, purchase Clarion Education licences or sign up for the Open Orchestras programme (for use in special schools only).
Please note that both Open Orchestras and Clarion Education are only available to organisations, not individuals. We are hoping to release a full version for individuals to buy via the App Store and Windows Store in 2026.
Upgrade with Clarion Education licences
You can unlock more Clarion features and content by purchasing Clarion Education licences. The minimum purchase through Clarion Education is 5 licences.
If you’re a Hub Lead Organisation, please fill out this Order Form to buy the Clarion through the DfE Musical Instruments, Equipment and Technology Framework and benefit from a 5% discount. Email your completed form to help@theclarion.uk, and we will send you a discount code to apply at purchase.
4 easy steps to buying and unlocking your Clarions:
- If you would prefer to pay by BACS, please request an invoice.
- By placing this order you agree to our Terms and Conditions of purchase and the Software Licence Agreement.
- You might like to read our FAQs and view the list of equipment we suggest buying alongside the Clarion, so you’re ready to meet musicians’ access needs.
System requirements:
Clarion Version 1.28 is compatible with:
- iPads running iOS 16 or higher. Please note, the Clarion is not available on iPhones.
- PCs running Windows 10 or 11.
Important note:
Clarion cannot currently be installed on Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC. This limitation affects certain devices, including the Tobii Dynavox I-series (as of May 2023) and older versions of Smartbox Gridpad. We’re actively working to support these systems soon.
