Let's explore Grasswalk, one of our BBC Ten Pieces. It was written by Laura Shigihara for the video game 'Plants vs. Zombies'. It's really exciting because the music matches the cute characters in the game. I'm going to start by playing the tune, which is called Melody 1. As the Clarion is a really visual instrument, you can see how the size of the shapes match the length of the notes. Let's try playing along with the backing track. Melody 2 is a simplified tune. There are three notes on the screen. This might be a more accessible pattern for you to play. Each part comes in two patterns, for sections A and C, and section B. You've already heard the melody for sections A and C. Let's have a listen to section B. It works the same for the other parts. So for the Harmony 1 parts, there's a section A and C. And also a section B. Now, let's have some fun. Try different sounds and imagine you're making the music for a video game. Let's try xylophone. How about harp? Have a go at playing as fast as possible. Or really slowly. Read more about this piece and find more resources on the BBC Ten Pieces website. Keep practicing.
